Every panel installed to date: also a market

Global installed solar PV capacity, 2025 to 2030 2,000 4,000 6,000 3.0 TW installed, end 2025 ≈6.6 TW projected, 2030 17.1% CAGR 202520262027202820292030 GW
Installed capacity to end 2025 and the 2030 projection per SolarPower Europe, Global Solar Market Outlook 2026 to 2030, medium scenario. A record 664 GW was added in 2025.

Global installed photovoltaic capacity passed 3 terawatts at the end of 2025. Projected to reach roughly 6.6 terawatts by 2030.

A film that can be fitted to modules already in the field addresses the whole installed base, not only what gets built next.

Who buys it

Asset owners

Independent power producers and utility-scale commercial and industrial operators.

They capture the gain directly, in electricity sold over the life of a plant they already own, and they are indifferent to whose panel it is.

Module assemblers

Manufacturers seeking differentiation, particularly outside China, where industrial policy is building new assembly capacity that needs a reason to be chosen.

For them the film is a layer added inside an existing lamination process.

Installers and EPCs

The channel for retrofit at scale, and the route to commercial and industrial rooftops where the asset owner is an ordinary business rather than an energy company.

Why it matters to them

Modules are roughly 40% of the capital cost of a solar project.

A proportionate increase in module cost therefore buys a gain that lifts the entire revenue stream for the life of the plant.

The cost lands on one line. The benefit lands on all of them.

That is the whole commercial case, and it is why the conversation with asset owners starts warm.

What remains is proving the gain and the value in the field, on their infrastructure, to their satisfaction.

Two routes to the same panel

New build

Integrated during module manufacture. Lower cost per unit, applied in the factory.

Value accrues over the full life of the project. Requires an OEM partnership.

Retrofit

Applied to panels already generating. No production line, no manufacturing partner, no waiting for the next build cycle.

This is the route no cell-level efficiency improvement can take, because a better cell cannot be fitted to a panel that already exists.

Most improvements in solar reach only the next generation of hardware.

Roughly a decade of installed capacity sits in the field, generating, and improving slowly through nothing but cleaning schedules.

That base is the part of the market we can reach and others cannot.

Where we start

South Africa, but not for sentimental reasons. The grant application, the validation partners and the beachhead market are concentrated in one country, which shortens every loop that matters at this stage.

South Africa holds much of Africa's installed solar capacity, at roughly 12 gigawatts cumulative at the end of 2025 on IEA PVPS estimates. It is adding capacity quickly under a mix of utility procurement, commercial and industrial self-generation, and rooftop installation driven by grid constraint and price.

The segment structure, on SAPVIA data to 2023, is weighted towards operators rather than households:

SegmentSystem sizeInstalled
Utility scaleAbove 50 MWp1 865 MW
Large C&I and utility1 to 50 MWp1 926 MW
Commercial and industrial30 kWp to 1 MWp1 248 MW
Residential0 to 30 kWp621 MW

Our beachhead is the top two segments, where the buyer is an operator with a balance sheet, a monitoring system and a direct interest in yield. The segment figures are the 2023 SAPVIA breakdown and predate the growth since.

And beyond it

South Africa is a credible validation and beachhead market.

It is also a very small fraction of the opportunity. Africa accounts for a low single-digit share of projected global solar growth.

The scale case sits in the global module and retrofit markets, on a fleet that has roughly doubled since 2023.

Figures drawn from SolarPower Europe's Global Solar Market Outlook 2026 to 2030, IEA PVPS market snapshots, and the SAPVIA public data portal. Segment data is SAPVIA to 2023 and is labelled as such.

We have not published forward revenue projections here. They exist, they are modelled from the bottom up, and we will walk any serious counterparty through them directly.
